To begin this project we were split into groups of 10 where we would come up with a brief for an immersive exhibition. It was a challenge getting the whole group to decide on one idea. My favourite idea that we came up with was to turn all the windows of Knights Park reception into a a series of Stain-glass windows. I thought it would be interesting to see how light effected the colours and patterns throughout the day. Sadly this idea didn't get picked but it is something I am interested in pursuing in the future.
The idea that did get chosen was to create a exhibition of a series of objects a fictitious character, Dr Clutter, had collected over the years.
We were split into groups of 5, each group had to create objects that reflected a period in Dr Clutters life. My group wanted to use this opportunity to experiment with clay and paper machè. We decided to create a series of abstract objects that echoed the female form. We created vases, clay objects and found everyday objects that appeared to have the curves of a woman. We painted everything different shades of pink and flesh tones, creating a more cohesive body of work. I created a book filled with mine and the others drawings of the female form, some more abstract than others.
REFLECTION- Overall I am proud of what we achieved in the time we had. I enjoyed creating something I wouldn't normally and felt more free. Looking back I do think we should have used more of a variety of fleshy tones, but when displayed together the pink objects pull the display together and make it stand out. I have learnt that communication is key when working together, there was two members who failed to turn up for discussions and their work seemed to be going in a different direction. The members who did show up created a more cohesive and flowing body of work which worked really well together. The set up was interesting an we learnt to compromise and how to work with the rest of the exhibition as a whole, which is a lesson that will be valuable when we put on our final show next year.
